Research Interests I am broadly interested in the intersection between ecology and evolution. My interests include the evolution of reproductive isolation and speciation processes, the evolutionary consequences of species interactions (such as predation) and the dynamics and consequences of frequency-dependent selection. Currently, my research is focussed on two main themes: 1. Population divergence, sexual isolation and speciation processes and 2. Interactions between development, ecology and genetics in phenotypic evolution. In the past, I have worked with several different study organism, and most of my work takes place in the wild, using field experiments on organisms in natural settings. I combine such field experiments with classical quantitative genetic approaches, molecular analyzes and aim to test theoretical models using integrative approaches. My past and current model organisms are natural populations of the colour polymorphic damselfly Ischnura elegans, two species of Calopteryx-demoiselles, different heritable ecotypes of the freshwater isopod Asellus aquaticus and, in a more recently started project, island and mainland forms of Podarcis-lizards in the Mediterranean Sea.
